Since 1985, we have been the professional home for massage therapists across the Hawaiian Islands — advancing the art, science, and practice of massage therapy with the spirit of Aloha.
Our History
The AMTA Hawaiʻi Chapter was established in 1985, bringing together massage therapists from across the islands under a shared commitment to professional excellence and community service.
For more than four decades, our chapter has grown alongside Hawaiʻi's massage therapy community — advocating for fair licensing standards, expanding access to continuing education, and building a network of support for practitioners on every island.
Today, AMTA Hawaiʻi represents licensed massage therapists from Oʻahu, Maui, Hawaiʻi Island, Kauaʻi, and beyond — united by a passion for healing and a dedication to the highest standards of professional practice.

Our Relationship with AMTA National
AMTA Hawaiʻi is a chartered chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association — the largest non-profit professional association representing massage therapists in the United States.
As a chapter, we extend the benefits of AMTA national membership to therapists here in Hawaiʻi, including professional liability insurance, access to research and resources, and a unified voice in national advocacy efforts.
Our elected delegates attend the AMTA National Convention each year to represent the interests of Hawaiʻi's massage therapy community and vote on matters that shape the profession nationwide.
